JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A long-time member of the Jaguars front office steps down...
The Jaguars' vice president of sales and marketing Macky Weaver announced he's resigning from his post to seek other employment opportunities.
Weaver has been with the team for 19 years and thanked both current owner Shad Khan and former owner Wayne Weaver for giving him the opportunity to succeed. He said in a statement "I would like to thank Wayne and Shad for giving me the opportunity they have given me over the past 19 years. I am proud of the people I worked with and what we were able to accomplish, especially the past three years of having all home games televised. Finally, I will always be the biggest Jaguars supporter as I understand what the Jaguars mean to Jacksonville. I will continue to make sure our community doesn't lose sight of that importance."
He'll remain on staff for 2013 as senior advisor to team president Mark Lamping.
Mr. Khan's full statement on Weaver's resignation:
"Macky Weaver is one of a handful of people who can say they helped put the Jaguars on the map here in
Jacksonville, and he should always be very proud of that. I'll always appreciate his personal efforts to introduce me to the community and make me feel at home as the new owner of the Jaguars."
Current Jaguars vice president of fan experience Hussain Naqi and current vice president of ticket sales Chad Johnson will take over many of Weaver's responsibilities, including regional marketing, consumer research, and all ticket sales.
