Mother of toddler thrown down stairs speaking out

The mother of the two-year-old girl who was thrown down a a flight of stairs by her father says the girl is having a hard time sleeping after such a traumatic incident.

Brandalynn Josey says her daughter, Valeria, has several bruises to her knee, arms, back and head after being thrown at the Fairview Condominium in St. Augustine.

The girl's father, 24 year-old Joseph Izzi, was arrested Monday night. Deputies say he was running naked through the parking lot and even tried to bite deputies.

"It's more a traumatic experience than anything," Josey tells our news partner Action News. "She's not sore anymore but she's having a hard time sleeping."

The girl was transferred to Flagler Hospital on Monday where her bruises were treated, and she even had to get two staples on her head.

"I was so disappointed that he was so selfish to do this to his child," Josey said. "I think he should sit in prison for a really long time and have time to face the fact that he's never going to see her again."

Joseph Izzi is being held at the St. Johns County jail on a $265,000 bond.
