Nassau County Sheriff's deputy shoots, kills suspect

A Nassau County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed a burglary suspect in North Hampton on Monday

According to Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper, deputies were responding to a report of a suspicious person attempting to break in to homes and cars.

After police responded a fight ensued, and the deputy attempted to tase the suspect but it was unsuccessful.

"The deputy was attacked again. He pulled out his firearm and shot him," said Leeper.

Sheriff Leeper says the deputy was forced to shoot the suspect, killing him. It's unclear whether the suspect was armed. FDLE has been called in to investigate.

We're told the deputy - identified as Wilfred Quick - was not shot, but taken to the hospital for minor injuries from a physical fight.  He's been on the force for five years.
