Naval Hospital Jacksonville opens investigation of ‘outrageous’ images

Jacksonville, FL — Naval Hospital Jacksonville is investigating what appears to be a staff member inappropriately handling a newborn.

A photo obtained by our partner Action News Jax appears to show junior enlisted corpsmen gesturing to a newborn, and one called the baby a Satan.

The hospital calls the images outrageous, unacceptable, and incredibly unprofessional and that the staff involved in the incident will face legal action.

Naval Hospital Jacksonville released a statement that reads in part:  “We have identified the staff members involved. They have been removed from patient care and they will be handled by the legal system and military justice.”

The hospital also says it is still notifying involved parties.
