New jobs in Jacksonville set to surpass 2012 total

The leader of Jacksonville's Chamber of Commerce says the River City has more than emerged from the recession.

"We are in a prolific period of time of job creation," says Jerry Mallot. "I got to tell you the recession is behind us."

Mallot says in 2012, we added 3,000 jobs. Within the first three months of the new year alone, we're on our way to easily bypassing that number, as several new companies set up shop in Jacksonville.

Hoag's Auto Sales, United Health Care, Deutsche Bank, Digital Risk, Corys Thunder, Embraer and many more companies are either making Jacksonville their home base or bringing more work to the area.

"They all fit into the category of higher wage jobs," says Mallot. "This will add a lot of prosperty to the economy and help people move up in their careers."
