With the calendar turning to 2014 we're taking a look at some of the new laws that will go into effect beginning January 1.
Manufacturers won't be allowed to make 40 or 60 watt incandescent light bulbs, so you'll have to get the more energy-efficient halogen or fluorescent ones now.
There's also been a change to the early voting law after long lines plagued Florida on election night. Now, early voting can start 14 days before the election, ballots are shorter because of a 75 word limit on amendments, and voting centers stay open later.
Minimum wage is also slated to go up 14 cents from $7.79 an hour to $7.93 an hour.
