New Union County Sheriff named

Union County has a new Sheriff.

Long-time Sheriff Jerry Whitehead died of a heart attack last month. He was the longest serving Sheriff in the state of Florida.

Governor Rick Scott has now named the replacement, Whitehead’s son 37-year-old Brad Whitehead.  Whitehead has worked at the Florida Department of Corrections since 2012, and the Officer of inspector General and Division of State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations.

He is the third generation in the family to serve as Union County Sheriff. He replaces Interim Sheriff Garry Seay.
