He was on the run for nearly three years, but now one of America’s Most Wanted is in jail for breaking Florida law.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Brett David Bowyer failed to obey the state’s Move Over Law when passing a trooper on a traffic stop in Brevard County. The deputy pulled Bowyer over and he was identified as a man wanted out of West Virginia for child pornography.
Bowyer was a high school counselor in West Virginia when he was arrested in September 2010 for child pornography. FHP says he failed to appear in court for his sentencing and has been on the run since that time. His story appeared on America’s Most Wanted last September.
Florida’s Move Over Law requires you to leave a lane of travel between your vehicle and an emergency vehicle or wrecker with flashing emergency lights. If you cannot safely do that, you must slow to 20 mph under the posted speed limit.
