One man dead over an alleged 20 dollar drug deal

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for the person they say shot two men early Tuesday morning on the Northside.

One man died on scene and the other was taken to a hospital in stable condition after shots were fired on Beam Street near Lem Turner Road, according to police.

Christopher Rubright told our news partner Action News he survived the shooting.  The shooting happened over a $20 drug deal, according to Rubright.

The 22-year-old said the drug dealer tried rob him and two other people.

Doctors at UF Health treated the bullet wound in Rubright’s arm for two hours, then released him.

Police have not named a suspect or motive.  They started canvasing the area after the shooting and asked neighbors if they knew any information about the crime.

This is the second double shooting within two days.  The victims from Monday’s shooting in the Moncrieff area of Northwest Jacksonville both survived.

Three other shootings happened over the weekend, including one officer involved shooting Saturday morning.

WOKV reached out to JSO to see if Rubright will face any drug related charges, but police tell is they do not comment on active investigations.
