Orange Park man shot in the face, in critical condition

A 20-year-old man from Orange Park is expected to undergo surgery Monday afternoon after he was shot in the face during a confrontation outside his home.

We're told Barret Milam remains in critical but stable condition at UF Health Jacksonville.

Mary Justino with the Clay County Sheriff's Office tells WOKV Milam was hosting a party with a small group of friends at a home on Woodbriar Drive in Orange Park.

20-30 unknown people arrived at the party.  After a short time, the victim and his friends asked the group to leave due to their rowdiness.  The group left the house but continued to hang out in the street in front of the victim's home.

Police say the group began setting off fireworks.  The victim and a friend armed themselves with hanguns.  They then went out to the drive ay and confronted a group of 5-6 men, demanding they leave.
The victim's friend knocked away the gun pointed at his head and ran inside to retrieve a shotgun.    As he was running inside the house he heard a gun shot.
When he returned from the home he discovered that the subjects were leaving in a silver SUV and the victim had been shot.
