JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says they’ve made an arrest in the murder of a 20-year-old man who went missing and was found dead last night, but there’s a reason you never heard about the missing young man.
"Decisions were made investigatively not to release that because we thought it might compromise the investigation," said Chief of Investigations Adam Brown.
Chief Brown says there was no indication of foul play when Robert Hucks’ mother filed the missing persons report January 18 or when they did a welfare check on his home, though he wasn’t there at the time.
"You don't want to follow one cookie-cutter response to every missing persons report," said Chief Brown.
Chief Brown says Hucks was last seen on January 16 leaving Metro Night Club in Riverside with 34-year-old Jeremy Pittman. Hunters found his body last night in Camden County, Georgia and called police.
JSO wouldn’t say how Hucks was killed becuase the investigation is still ongoing. According to the police report, Pittman has confessed to the crime and Chief Brown says he is cooperating with detectives.
