PONTE VED - The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Jacksonville Beach man for threatening to cause harm to church pastor using a chainsaw.
Andrew Hahn, 29, is charged with aggravated stalking after police say he contacted a pastor at the Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.
He was banned from the church in 2008 after he was charged with voyeurism. Investigators say he was taking pictures of children showering at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. But even after that, investigators say he continued to harass the church pastor and other staff members.
Previously he was given warnings from the church after he was found outside staring at the pre-school students through the windows.
He was also arrested again in April 2010, accused of trespassing at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club.
His neighbor, Stan Herndon, tells our partner Action News that he isn’t surprised by Hahn’s arrest.
“There’s always police cars around,” he says.
Herndon says he’s recently watched Hahn act recklessly on their street.
“We’re just concerned…driving the cars fast down the street and some yelling and screaming going on down there. It’s disturbing other neighbors,” he says.
Hahn’s father also talked to Action News. He says his son has been diagnosed with Asperger’s, but he isn’t violent.
He showed an “Employee of the Month” certificate Hahn was recently given from his boss at K-Mart.
Herndon says he’s happy Hahn is safely locked away, and he hopes he gets the mental help he needs.
“I hope he can get some help and maybe get his life back on track,” Herndon says.
