Police: Man with HIV didn't tell two sex partners

A Jacksonville man is accused of having sex and infecting two partners with the HIV/AIDS virus without telling them he has it.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Taveres Newsome, 35, is charged with sexual intercourse without disclosure of HIV and criminal transmission of HIV.  They say they're searching for more victims.

According to police, Newsome was diagnosed with AIDS in 2008.

He was detained on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 592 S. Ellis Rd. and was transported to the JSO Sex Crimes office.

JSO says he denied ever having sex with one of the victims and stated that another victim was aware of his medical condition.  He later sought out a counselor.

Taveres has been arrested on multiple drug, theft, drug possession and domestic battery charges dating as far back as 1997.

According to the Duval County Jail, his bail is set at $100,006.  His next court appearance is scheduled for January 23 at 9:00 a.m.
