Retired JSO sgt. helps catch post office shooting suspect

A retired Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sergeant and his wife helped capture the suspected killer of 23 year-old Harold Davis.

“It’s in your system, you can’t get it out,” says Sgt. Mark Shinholser.

He tells our news partner Action News he didn’t think twice when he saw 22 year-old Arianna Myles fire shots at ex-boyfriend Harold Davis.

"My first thought process when you got a felony taking place is to intervene," he said.

He followed Myles with his wife in the passenger seat.  They reported her car’s tag number to JSO and pursued her until she crashed into another vehicle.

"I helped to get her in handcuffs because she was fighting them," he said.

Shinholser, who protected Jacksonville in uniform for 35 years, says he may get all the credit for tracking Myles, but he says he couldn’t have done it without his wife.

"She's been my partner in life for almost 42 years, she was like my riding partner," he said.
