Roommate talks with WDBO about gunman

We're hearing from the UCF student who called 911, helping to avert what could have been one of the deadliest school shootings in history.

Arabo "BK" Babakhani talked with WDBO about the near massacre he helped prevent Sunday night and the fear he felt after stepping out of his bedroom, only to come face to face with his roommate, who had an assault rifle pointed at him.

"I saw that and I just slammed the door in his face and locked it and then stepped aside thinking that he might shoot into the door," said Babakhani.

Seconds later he heard two loud pops, eventually finding out 30 year old James Seevakumaran turned the gun on himself.

Looking back, Babakhani says his former roommate was quiet and aloof, a loner who didn't even go home for the holidays.

"He didn't go anywhere for Thanksgiving. He cooked the whole meal of turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce for himself."

Babakhani returned to his Tower One dorm on Monday, but doubts he'll live there again.

“I don’t know when and if I’ll actually be able to live back in there. We’ll see what happens.”

For now he's staying at his fraternity house.
