Scare at SJC movie theatre clears

A scare at a St. Johns County movie theater this afternoon turned out to be confusion between a shot gun and a sandwich.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Epic Theatre just before 2 PM after receiving reports of a man entering the theater with a shotgun.  They evacuated the theatre and found the man in question.

Deputies determined he did not have a shot gun, but was actually trying to sneak a sub sandwich in to the theatre.

The theatre resumed normal operation shortly after.
