The search is on for a driver who struck a St Johns County deputy on Orange Street in West St. Augustine on Tuesday night.
Detectives say a driver ran through a stop sign at a high rate of speed crashing into the deputies car.
"We did not find the driver of the vehicle so our investigation continues" said Sgt. Catherine Payne.
Investigators found the suspect car but say the driver took off. They tell WOKV the car is a silver Mitsubishi Gallant. If you have any information on the driver you're asked to call detectives.
Meanwhile, residents in the area say they are tired of people speeding through their neighborhood.
"You see the sign says 20. They do not do 20, they do 30 and whatever they want to do through here!"
