Immediate action from Jacksonville leaders and law enforcement, after the bombing in Boston.
Attention turned to the many outdoor events planned for the First Coast, including this week's One Spark Festival.
"And people should come down. They'll be safe, this will be a great event," says One Spark Spokesperson Abel Harding. He tells WOKV, they have a solid security plan with Jacksonville Police. But, Sheriff John Rutherford met with his officers after the blasts at the Boston Marathon to beef up security.
"We have no intelligence that Jacksonville is a target or anything like that. We are just being prudent," Sheriff Rutherford told Action News.
Rutherford tells our news partner that outdoor events can be challenging to secure. In a memo, Mayor Alvin Brown also saying he's instructed the city's emergency management team to monitor and assess the situation in Boston with state and federal authorities.
