SJSO: Man paid underage girl for sex

A Clay County man was arrested Monday by deputies in St. Johns County in connection with a 2016 case involving an underage girl.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office charged 53-year-old David Reed with unlawful sexual activity with a minor and offering to commit prostitution.

Reed allegedly met the underage victim on an online dating site back in April 2016.

The two agreed to engage in sexual activity in exchange for money, according to investigators.

Deputies said Reed drove to the victim’s residence for the purpose of sexual activity.

The report said the girl told Reed she was underage, but did not give her exact age, before they were intimate.

Even after knowing she was a minor, Reed reportedly engaged in oral and sexual intercourse with the victim.

She told investigators that Reed gave her $300 for the sexual activity and companionship.

A few days later, the victim met Reed again and he took her lingerie shopping at the St. Johns Town Center, according to deputies.

The receipt showed Reed bought the victim $300 worth of lingerie.

The girl provided deputies with detailed conversations between her and Reed, which included talks about their financial sexual arrangements.

Reed’s bond was set at $105,000.
