Teen: Had I not ran, it probably would have hit me'

Two men ran into a Southside neighborhood after crashing a stolen SUV Thursday night.

Martin Massey told WOKV the vehicle was barreling towards him.

“Had I not ran, it probably would have hit me,” Massey said.

The 16-year-old said another driver called police after seeing the distressed teen on the side of the road.

“I’m holding my head and I’m yelling, because I’m a little shook up,” he said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the stolen 1992 Nissan Pathfinder was heading south on Southside Boulevard when it rear-ended a minivan, causing the SUV to cross the median and northbound lanes.

After the driver lost control, the SUV hit a light pole and flipped on the service road.

The driver and passenger got out of the SUV and ran towards Nimitz Court, according to FHP.

The incident happened near Beach Boulevard before 7 p.m. and no one was injured.

The vehicle was reported stolen Monday.
