A man wanted for murder in Clay County has turned himself in.
We’re told Jarrod Romani surrendered to CCSO late Tuesday and is being held on a $150,000 bond. Clay County deputies say Romani and Nathan Ross stole chainsaws out of the back of a pick-up truck parked outside of a gas station. Jason Kent was inside of the gas station at the time and then came back out to the car and, according to CCSO, willing rejoined the group and fled with the stolen goods.
Three people chased the suspects and eventually ran them off the road. A fight then ensued, and during that Kent sustained injuries from which he eventually died. Romani and Ross are charged with Kent’s murder because it happened while they were committing the theft.
Only one of the three men who were stolen from face any charges. Jamie Green has been charged with simple battery against Ross, dealing with a confrontation that happened after Ross was already subdued.
