Train carrying ethanol derails in Alachua County

A train traveling from Waycross to Tampa derailed in Alachua County early Monday morning.

9 of 17 cars that derailed around 3:30 a.m have been rerailed, according to a CSX spokesperson.  The accident happened near U.S. 301 and County Road 1474.

Gary Sease with CSX said one car was carrying ethanol at the time of the derailment.  Another car was previously carrying sulfuric acid.  No leakages or injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is unknown, but Sease said the incident is under investigation.

No one was injured in the train derailment.
