Two Jacksonville men are facing serious time in federal prison accused of an elaborate tax fraud scheme.
Juan Ruiz and Roberto Bisono are believed to have cashed numerous tax refund checks issued to bogus taxpayers in New York. An indictment alleges Ruiz had a check cashing business on Beach Blvd which was used to funnel more than half a million dollars.
The conspiracy count carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in federal prison, and each of the 17 theft counts carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
