The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has announced an arrest in the weekend double murder at Canterbury Gardens Apartments on the westside.
We told you on Jacksonville's Morning News that Latricia Johnson and Emanuel Robinson, both 21, were found shot dead early Saturday inside the apartment on S. Lane Avenue.
A third person was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries but is said to be improving on Monday.
At an afternoon news conference Monday, police announced Keith Collins Jr. has been charged with the double murder.
The 24-year-old was booked just after Midnight Monday. In addition to the murder charge he's accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police say the shooting happened after an argument over sleeping arrangements in the apartment. Police say Collins shot Johnson multiple times as she tried to escape.
"I just know that he wanted that bed they were sleeping in", said Assistant Chief Chris Butler.
Police say the suspect and the victims were all friends.
Investigators were able to interview the living victim and she stated that she laid in the bed and pretended to be dead.
A criminal history reveals that Collins was convicted of Possession of Cocaine on April 25, 2012.
