Police say the shooting happened after an argument over sleeping arrangements in the apartment. Police say Collins shot Johnson multiple times as she tried to escape.
"I just know that he wanted that bed they were sleeping in", said Assistant Chief Chris Butler.
Police say the suspect and the victims were all friends.
Investigators were able to interview the living victim and she stated that she laid in the bed and pretended to be dead.
A criminal history reveals that Collins was convicted of Possession of Cocaine on April 25, 2012.
