Unruly passenger leads flight to be diverted to Jacksonville

Be glad you weren't on this flight.

A JetBlue flight en route from Boston to Ft. Lauderdale was diverted to Jacksonville International Airport Thursday night.

Debbie Jones with the Jacksonville International Airport says JetBlue Flight 1969 was diverted to our area after a passenger became unruly.

A passenger on the flight, Bill Morley, tells our partner Action News that a man on board tried to light a cigarette, then began to scream at the flight crew.

The FBI cleared the plane in Jacksonville and interviewed passengers in the airport terminal.

A spokesperson for JetBlue would not release details on the exact nature of the incident, or how this was handled in relation to company policy.  He said protocols for handling situations like this vary from case to case.

The Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport website shows the flight arrived there at 12:54 Friday morning.
