CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - We've just learned detectives with the Clay County Sheriff's office arrested a man accused of groping two girls at a Middleburg Walmart.
Authorities say thanks to your tips, 55-year-old Marco Evora is now behind bars and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behaviour.
On Thursday, Mary Justino with the Clay County Sheriff's Office told WOKV News they've gotten dozens of phone calls and emails about the man accused of groping two teenage girls at a Walmart in Middleburg.
They believe the information is helpful.
"We're definitely encouraged, and we hope that we'll have some good news soon as far as us being able to identify the suspect," Justino says.
Justino says parents should remember to keep their children close by while shopping, especially if it's inside a big store.
She says middle school aged children aren't too old to supervise as well, and parents should teach them to treat getting approached at a department store as they would a bus stop or the park.
"Yelling for help, or being willing to run away from that person, or push that person away from them," she says are good defense tactics.
And Justino says when incidents like these happen, it's best to contact the store management first, as they work routinely with law enforcement. She says this could increase the chances of identifying and catching the suspect.
