The man who police say admitted to killing his ex-wife in her southside home will not be released from jail anytime soon.
Jeffrey Mackey made a brief court appearance on a murder charge Tuesday. He was denied bond and because his income was too high, he was denied a public defender.
Mackey will be arraiged June 25th.
Kimberly Mackey's body was found in Missouri, and Mackey was arrested in a St. Augustine hotel room.
Police say they believe Kimberly was murdered in the trailer she and Jeffrey Mackey were living in together. Investigators say he covered her body in a blanket, placed her in his car and then drove her to Missouri.
Investigators say Mackey hadn't returned to work which was unusual. Her ex-husband apparently told police he had last seen her at 10:30pm on Monday night, riding away with another man on a motorcycle.
The pair were divorced, although still living together. They have two adult children who live out-of-state.
Investigators did not elaborate on a specific motive for the killing.
