Victims of early SJC crash identified

We’ve learned new details about the early morning crash that killed two people and injured three others.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver ran off a curve on County Road 208 and hit a group of trees in the wood line just north of the road as it was spinning.  The front of the SUV then hit a tree and flipped multiple times, throwing four people out of the car. The SUV then hit a fence before stopping back on the road.

This happened west of County Road 13A around 1:20 AM Thursday in St. Johns County.

FHP has yet to name which of the people in the car was the occupant, saying they are further investigating.  Troopers have yet to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Four of the five people were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  18-year-old Erin Aderhold and 21-year-old Dylan Charles are in critical condition. 21-year-old Hosston Bishop sustained minor injuries.  20-year-old Alyssa Nearbin and 24-year-old Joey Stevens were killed, Nearbin was wearing her seatbelt.

For Nearbin’s family, this is the second untimely death in just about two months.  Nearbin’s counsin, Ryan Ford, was beaten to death at a Mandarin bonfire earlier this year.
