JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A SWAT standoff on the Westside ends peacefully when the man who barricaded himself inside of his home ended up in police custody with nobody injured.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called out to the 5400 block of Waterside Drive off Lake Shore Boulevard around 3:50 p.m. Friday.
JSO says Douglas Chambers Jr., 56, would not come out of his home at 5460 Waterside Drive when the U.S. Marshall Service tried to serve him a warrant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
“The ATF warrant I believe had something to do with bomb making,” said Shannon Hartley with the JSO.
He said Chambers also had a local warrant in reference to a prior issue for carrying a concealed weapon.
The nearby streets were blocked off for more than an hour before police say Chambers turned himself in without anyone being injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
