Wife of 30 year JSO veteran speaks after fatal car crash

A 30 year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was killed in a car accident yesterday in Alachua County.
Today we're hearing from the wife of 52-year-old Michael Pickering. Diane Pickering is the Director of Communications at the Clay County Sheriff's Office. She says she's not ready to speak but released a statement about him.

“He was more than a great husband.  He was a great Dad, son, brother, grandfather, friend….and an awesome police officer.  Michael loved his family, his Gators and loved his motorcycle.”

FHP says he had picked up his daughter and was involved in a car crash after another driver cut him off. He was killed and his daughter was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

His viewing will be held Friday, March 7th at 4pm at the Jones Gallager Funeral home.

His funeral will be held Saturday, March 8th 10am at St. Williams Catholic Church.
