WOKV Storm Center: Cleaning up from TS Andrea

Accuweather Meteorologist Heather Zehr says Tropical Storm Andrea had a reduced impact to our area due to the storms high forward speed, which kept the number of intense rain bands down.

The most dramatic impact from TS Andrea was a weak tornado in Fernadina Beach and at Naval Station Mayport where some minor wind damage.

And a huge tree fell on a vacant house on the southside but no injuries occurred.

Chief Danny Hinson with the Nassau County Emerengy Operation Center tells WOKV a deputy spotted a tornado in Nassau county in the 500 block of Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach.

Hinson says there there is minimal damage and two trees are down as a result. No injuries were reported at the time of Hinson's statment.

Meanwhile in Duval County, Lt. Corey Barker at Naval Station Mayport tells WOKV that there was a brief waterspout off shore and no injuries are reported. Two buildings suffered minor damage near the beach.

The Tropical Storm Warning expired at 4:50am Friday.
