JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman after she allegedly left a 5-year-old in the car Sunday.
According to JSO, Vivian Guo told officers the girl did not want to go into the store and though it was okay to leave the child in the car while she was shopping.
Arrest reports also show Guo said her watch was not working and did not realize how long she was in the store. The 49-year-old left the child unattended in the car for at least 45 minutes, according to JSO.
The incident happened at the Costco in the St. Johns Towncenter. Police were dispatched to the store just after 2 p.m.
The report said witnesses removed the girl from the car after seeing “sweat running down her face.”
JSO said the Guo parked the car under a tree, but could not see the car from inside the store.
Officer arrested Guo on child neglect charges and took her to jail.
A neighbor tells our partner Action News he's shocked to learn of the allegations.
"They were real quiet. They certainly didn't seem like people who would do such a thing."
WOKV reached out to JSO to find out the relationship between the girl and the suspect, but JSO said they could not release that information.
