A woman struck by a train in St. Augustine this afternoon was reportedly standing on the railroad tracks and taking photos of the train as it headed Southbound.
The St Johns County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Sonnie Lee Smith told deputies she didn't remember what happened after the train struck her. It happened around 2 pm on Palmer Street, according to the St. Johns County Fire & Rescue department.
Investigators say Smith was taken to Flagler Hospital and then transported to UF health in Jacksonville. Smith was flown to UF health in serious condition. Deputies say she only suffered multiple lacerations.
