Woman with drug warrant killed while fleeing police; infant not seriously hurt

Beach and St. Johns Bluff is now open after being closed for several hours because of an investigation in to a deadly crash.

We're told Timicia Wimberly fled police during a traffic stop, and crashed at the busy intersection.

Officer Melissa Bujeda says the officer turned off the lights and sirens and slowed down because of heavy traffic in the area.  But Wimberly kept going, eventually crashing in to several vehicles in the intersection.

Wimberly was killed.  Two other people were in the vehicle, including an infant.  Police say the infant was not seriously hurt.

The other people in four other vehicles had non life-threatening injuries.

"It looks very serious, some of the cars had to be cut up to get the people out but fortunately, the other people in the other vehicles are not seriously injured", said Bujeda.

Officer Bujeda says Wimberly was being stopped for an active warrant for violation of probation on a drug charges.

"We had her address and due to the traffic there was no need to pursue the vehicle, so that's why they turned their emergency equipment off and held back".
