Mad Dads rally on Westside to promoter safer community

Dozens gathered on Jacksonville's Westside Thursday night to raise awareness about crime in their neighborhood and to remember the life of an elderly man killed in his home one year ago.

The local chapter of Mad Dads, an acronym for Men Who Stand against Destruction and Drugs says they want to bring peace back to their neighborhoods. The president, Donald Foy, says he wants the community to break it's no-tell policy. He says not only do they want to learn who is responsible for brutally beating 82-year-old George Davis in his home one year ago, he's also concerned about recent crimes on the city's Westside and says the community must work hand-in-hand with police to promoter safer communities.

"We feel the city of Jacksonville should be outraged that a senior is murdered and nobody is doing anything about it."
82-year-old George Davis was murdered in his Westside home across from Woodstock Park last summer and the case is still unsolved. Foy says police have done everything in their power to bring Davis' killer to justice. Foy says his focus is on the community and says he hopes someone will tell what they know.
"Nothing can happen until the neighborhood breaks a code of silence and tell what they know."
The walk took place at 6pm at Woodstock Park on Jacksonville's Westside.
