MEMPHIS - The man accused of stabbing a gas station employee over a piece of "bad" chicken was in court Monday facing aggravated assault charges.
Officers responded to the call around 11: 15 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Jackson Avenue at Exxon Mobil.
Police said the victim was stabbed in his lower leg by the suspect during an argument over chicken.
WHBQ obtained video showing the altercation.
The victim, an employee of Exxon Mobil, was cleaning up in the parking lot when the suspect approached him.
The suspect, 60-year-old David Haslett, told officers the victim sold him some bad chicken, and he wanted his money back.
When officers arrived, the victim was standing in the middle of Jackson Avenue after being sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
The victim was taken to Regional One Medical Center in critical condition.
Haslett will be in court again on October 24.
