Two incident that were being called suspicous and that involved a red truck have now been "cleared" by authorities.
St. Johns County authorities now say the man in the red truck shown in a photograph they released was on legitimate business and not involved in any kind of suspicous activity. The photograph elicited a number of leads on the man's identity, and the man himself contacted authorities to discuss his presence in the community.
On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office said the subject of the suspicious incident contacted them saying he had been in the Plantation Grove Subdivision for a prospective job estimate and became lost in the neighborhood.
He told police he then called a young boy over to his truck to ask for directions, but he never asked him to get into his vehicle. SJSO also says detectives also identified and spoke with independent witnesses who confirmed the driver's reason for being in the neighborhood.
"The quick actions of those in the community to identfy this individual as well as witnesses assisted in closing this investigation and to confirm there were no bad intentions," the release from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says.
Earlier on Thursday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's told WOKV News that they are ruling a report of an attempted abduction in Arlington near Merrill and Hartsfield Roads as a hoax.
