Jacksonville, FL —
Another Kangaroo store was robbed -- this one on Old Middleburg Road, and it ended with the 17 year-old robber shot dead by police.
Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were conducting a stakeout at that store in the wake of a series of armed robberies at that and other Kangaroo stores.
JSO Chief Tom Hackney says the detectives saw 17 year-old Craig Ruise enter the store, hold up the clerks at gunpoint, and run out.
And that's when deputies fatally shot the man who police believe carried out eight other robberies.
"The description of the suspect in all the previous eight robberies matched the description of what the suspect tonight was wearing," says Chief Hackney. "His motives were the same, armed with a similar-looking handgun."
The teen was carrying a fake gun. Police say the robber acted alone in this and all other robberies.
No officers were hurt.
