Colonel Craig Aldrich tells WOKV news 16 individuals were arrested following an undercover operation where investigators posed as children online.
It's called Operation "Wrong Destination".
Aldrich says the suspects range in age from 20-53 and include a truck driver, a food service employee and even active duty military. He tells WOKV the suspects engaged in chat online with investigators who they believed to be young girls age 12-14. He says the common denominator in each arrest was sex with a minor.
"The commonality is that they were all looking to have sex with an underage kid."
Aldrich says parents should always be aware of what their child is doing online. He recommends checking out the social media sites they use and learning who they chat with.
