Jacksonville, FL —
In St. Augustine a 96-year-old, Amanda Stevenson shot and killed her 53-year-old nephew Johnny Rice.
Initial reports were that Stevenson shot her nephew, then there was an error in the police report which indicated their relationship was mother - son, then we got a correction from St. Augustine police that she was in fact her nephew.
The shooting happened in West Augustine just before 9 p.m. on Sunday. Rice’s wife called police; she said her husband was having a medical problem. They thought it may have been a possible heart attack.
When police go to the scene they found Rice lying on the floor with blood coming from his mouth and other blood splatters around the scene. The police report says when the St. Augustine Police Department responded to the home on John St. Rice suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His mother lived with him in the house. She used a .357 magnum handgun. The last time someone saw Rice he was sitting in the living room watching a football game.
