JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Seven vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash on I-95 northbound between University and Emerson around 10:45pm Thursday.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dylan Bryan tells WOKV News the driver of a semi truck, Bernie C. Williams of Jacksonville, failed to observe traffic in front of him had slowed or stopped in the approaching construction zone.

Three people were taken to various hospitals with injuries that Bryan described as not life threatening.  Several vehicles not involved in the crash stopped to assist the victims.

The semi driver was ticketed for careless driving and a subsequent citation for maintaining an improper log book.

Sgt. Bryan says it's important to be aware of slowing traffic as you approach construction zones.
