Alabama kidnapper used to live in Jax

By Gene Wexler

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

We've learned that the 65 year-old man who kidnapped a then five year-old Alabama boy used to live in Jacksonville.

Jimmy Lee Dykes killed a school bus driver and kidnapped the boy on January 29 in Midland City, Ala., and was killed Monday when the FBI raided his bunker where he held the boy hostage.

Dykes used to live at the Big Tree RV Park on Dunn Avenue on the northside for a few years in the mid-2000s.

According to the Times Union, park co-owner David Reynolds says Dykes wasn't a troublemaker because they don't allow troublemakers into the park.

Reynolds says Dykes was a simple working guy.

Special Agent Jeff Westcott also confirmed that FBI agents visited the park late last week to speak with residents about Dykes.
