Baby found dead after falling out of crib

By Rich Jones

Jacksonville, FL —

Jacksonville Police and DCF are investigating the death of an infant in a home on the westside, but they don't suspect foul play.

The child was put to bed Sunday night in a bunk bed, and was discovered hunched over in a car seat on the floor of the bedroom. It happened at a home on PlayPen Drive, off 103rd and east of Ricker Road.

DCF spokesman John Harrell says they have several questions to answer.

"Whether there were any other children living in the home or any other children who were there at the time of this incident. Whether there were any other adults who were there as well," says Harrell.

Harrell says this is a sad reminder to all parents to always put babies alone on their back in a crib, and keep car seats locked up.
