Boater pulled from St. Johns

Jacksonville, FL —

Police and Fire/Rescuers pulled a boater from the waters of the St. Johns Monday night after his boat capsized around 5 o'clock near the Main Street Bridge.

A 65-year-old man was transported to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.  Inital eyewitness reports indicated that there may have been a second boater in the water.  Rescuers searched into the night but eventually pulled back the search.  JSO interviews and eyewitness accounts eventually lead investigators to believe that there was only one boater in the water to begin with.

The boat capsized when rope from the anchor got caught in one of the engine propellors.  Police did locate the boat as the search progressed and pulled it from the river.
