Transit station bomb squad callout

Jacksonville, FL —

Downtown traffic tie-ups during your lunchtime commute while Jacksonville’s bomb squad was investigating a suspicious package.

A JSO officer working the Rosa Parks Transit Station near Union and Julia noticed a large suitcase while on patrol around 11:30 AM. Through security footage they determined a white male left the suitcase around 8:30 AM, and seeing that, the bomb squad was called.

Investigators cleared the suitcase, and we’re told there were no hazardous or explosive materials inside.

The portion of Union next to the station was closed during the investigation and the Transit station itself was evacuated.  Temporary stops were set up a few blocks away, but there was heavy traffic in the area due to the closures.
