Boy struck by lawnmower still in intensive care

By Michelle Rotella

Jacksonville, FL —

The 4-year-old boy who was struck by his father's lawnmower last week is still in Shands Jacksonville's pediatric intensive care unit Monday.

Jared Wright, who family members call J.D. has his right foot severed when his father accidentally backed up the riding lawnmower on his son's foot.

Neighbors came out to help and called 9-1-1.

Channel 4 is reporting the boy's uncle, James Wright, made a statement saying half of Jared's right foot is severed, and he is also suffering from broken bones in his lower leg.

Jared has had two surgeries since Friday.
