Jacksonville, FL —
It was a chaotic drive home on JTB Thursday. Traffic was at a standstill because of a deadly crash just west of Hodges Blvd around 5:15pm.
New this morning, we are told the driver of a Ford F-250, 53 year-old Dann Lute, caused a chain reaction crash because he failed to stop for traffic ahead of him.
Florida Highway Patrol says alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash, and charges are pending.
According to the crash report WOKV obtained, a 2000 Chevy Silverado was stopped on JTB in the outside lane, west of Hodges, behind other traffic that was waiting to exit at Hodges.
A 2001 Jaguar was stopped behind the Silverado, and a Toyota 4-Runner was stopped behind the Jaguar.
FHP says the driver of the Toyota 4-Runner was killed after it rolled over and collided with the Jaguar.
The other people involved in the chain reaction crash had minor injuries.
