The Clay County Sheriff's Office is inviting anyone who wants to dispose of outdated prescription drugs to stop by their “Drug Take Back.”
It’s happening this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. only at the Walgreen’s at 6945 U.S. Highway 17 in Green Cove Springs.
“If you throw it away, somebody will have access to it. If you flush down the toilet you’re contaminating the water. If you burn it, you’re contaminating the air,” says Barry Abramowitz with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
He says the only drugs they will not accept are syringes – any sort of injectable drug.
Otherwise, it doesn’t matter where anyone or their drugs came from; they accept anyone.
“This is an opportunity to get rid of this stuff that’s unwanted, and secure it where you don’t have to worry about it being stolen because, you know, some of these schedule drugs are very expensive on the street,” Abramowitz says.
