GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. —

Clay County law enforcement taking some time to remember their fallen at the annual Police Memorial Ceremony in Spring Park in Green Cove Springs.  This year's ceremony carries special significance for the Clay County Sheriff's Office, as with heavy hearts, they add another photo to their Wall of Honor.

"I can still see [David] in my mind's eye," said Sheriff Rick Beseler.  "The loss of Detective White is all too fresh in our minds and we all still grieve with his family."

Beseler says there's certainly no inscription or accolade that can truly amount to the sacrifice Detective White made, but vowed to honor his legacy by continuing to protect the community David loved.

Detective David White was shot and killed during a meth lab raid in February.  His partner, Detective Matt Hanlin, was also shot that night.  He is still recovering from his injuries.  On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted three people on several murder counts in White's death.

His wife, Jennifer, and their family were on hand for the ceremony.  Jennifer White says her husband should not be remembered for what happened to him on a terrible February night.

"Dave should be remembered for the amazing way he lived...He can't be here today to tell his story, but I can, and I will."

Jennifer White was presented with her husband's service weapon, along with a check for $32,000 from the CCSO humanitarian fund, which had been collecting donations from the community for the White family.  The CCSO headquarters was renamed to the David A. White Memorial Headquarters and his name will be inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Monument next May.
