A scheduling conflict is brewing between the county fair and the annual Florida/Georgia football game at Everbank Field. Both events are scheduled for the same weekend next year and if the city doesn't want to pay out of pocket, it may end up losing one of them.
City council president Bill Bishop tells channel four he's sponsoring a measure for the city to pay $200,000 for the fair to house its equipment, employees, and animals for a week.
"We either do this or we run the risk of losing the Florida/Georgia game, which is more money and we don't want that to happen," says Bishop.
The fair says it will chip in $6,000 to that total if need be, though it told channel 4 its goal was not to have the fair on the same weekend as the Florida/Georgia game.
